正月のしつらいとして最もよく知られるクロマツを伊達冠石の土台に立て、大麻の繊維を巻きつけた。赤い繊維はベンガラで染めたもの。風雨に晒されて少しずつ黒ずんでいく石の経年変化が楽しめる。

A branch of red pine, the most iconic New Year's decoration in Japan, set in a base of datekanmuri stone and banded with hemp fibers. The red portion of the band was dyed using iron oxide. The markings on the stone offer a handsome record of prolonged exposure to the elements.
